Memphis College of Art: Gibson Hall

The Memphis College of Art (MCA) faced growing enrollment. The MCA Graduate Program was relocated to an ANF-designed adaptive reuse building in the South Main Arts District of Downtown Memphis to free up space in the existing Overton Park campus for administration and faculty. In order to facilitate the relocation, ANF updated the 95-year-old Gibson Hall inside and out. Design centered around enhancing campus identity while creating an artistic, welcoming, and functional space. The façade underwent extensive repair and redesign. The entryway, offices, and kitchen were renovated. The building now serves as the campus front door, acting as the hub for student services. Gibson Hall provides an inspiring space for the administration and is a welcome center for visits from students and their families. The interior reception area is currently featured on for its use of Frost Lucite in the college's signature red.
