Oak Forest Elementary School

Designed for the local City School System, this K-6 facility meets the School Board's 21st Century Classroom standards for extensive data connectivity, distribution hubs, and clean power. In the two-story main entrance galleries, the building structure and utilities are exposed and combined with clerestory windows to encourage exploration and understanding of the school building itself. The circular main corridor allows students to travel either way to their destination and forms a secure interior courtyard for younger grades. To facilitate way-finding, the lighting fixtures, trim and flooring in each section of the corridor is identified with a distinct color.
