First Horizon National Corporation Operations Project

FIRST HORIZON NATIONAL CORPORATION (FHNC)

FHNC wanted to consolidate employees from three different buildings into two locations. The overall goal for the $62M FHNC Consolidation & Transformation was to reduce real estate, improve functional layouts to increase collaboration and work-flow while giving employees a flexible, modern work environment. In the early stages of design ANF Architects (Architect of Record) created a virtual cloud office that allowed real-time collaboration with Gensler and the entire A/E team in a shared 3D (BIM) model.

The $25 million dollar FHNC Operations project, represents one phase of the $62 million dollar multifaceted comprehensive design solution for the corporate offices of the largest bank headquartered in Tennessee. This 190,000 SF building was designed for ultimate flexibility and transformed an old check processing facility into a state-of-the-art tech center. This center operates continuously over a 24 hour cycle and can accommodate a staff of 700 people.

The goals for this location were to fully utilize the existing building, create a pleasant and safe work environment, improve departmental work flow and use sustainable strategies when possible.

While the majority of the interior was to be demolished (allowing for new organization of the space), most of the electrical and mechanical rooms along with the data center and restrooms were to remain. The restrooms received new finishes and fixtures. The renovated open office work areas used color to distinguish the departments and improve way finding.

The Client and project team worked closely together determining the consolidation needs and space requirements as well as planning the 4 phased move requirement keeping the 24/7 building operational.

In addition, the team was challenged to transform this building into a place that would attract employees since many were being relocated from more desirable locations.
