Southwest Tennessee Community College Library

Southwest Tennessee Community College

A Master plan for the Macon Cove campus was prepared in 2003, which proposed several changes to the existing campus plan, which were incorporated into the Bornblum Library at Southwest Tennessee Community College. The circular motor court entrance creates a new "Front Door" to the campus, providing for automobile and bus drop-off. A curving arcade façade with a large Southwest Tennessee Community College" graphic surrounds this motor court and creates an architectural entrance feature for the campus. Within the Library, the Ground Floor hosts the Arcade, Entrance Lobby, Circulation and Information Desks, Reference area, Periodical area, Art Gallery and Library Theater, along with some Technical Services functions and Support Spaces. The Second Floor includes the Stacks, Archives, Conference Room, Classroom spaces including Group Study Rooms and Music Rooms, Administration, Technical Services, Mechanical Equipment room and Support. Cork floors and wood ceilings define circulation areas. Mullion spacing and joints patterns express the planning module. The Library frames a landscaped view corridor from the main quadrangle to the lake. The building service entrance is located on the south, isolated from the center of the pedestrian campus.
