St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Campus Materials Management Relocation

ST. JUDE CHILDREN'S RESEARCH HOSPITAL

ANF worked with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to relocate their Materials Management Department to an existing warehouse space at the corner of North Parkway and Danny Thomas, where it encompasses approximately 35,000 SF of the 80,000 SF building.

Previously, this department was spread out across several buildings on St Jude's campus, and this project consolidates all of their operations into one location. The Materials Management Department at St. Jude is comprised of Purchasing, Strategic Sourcing, and Enterprise Systems, as well as Receiving/Delivery and Inventory. As such, this project houses employee offices, as well as warehouse space, a 6-bay receiving dock, conference rooms, restrooms, and a large break room to support the department’s 60 employees.

A lot of focus was put into the interior design of this building, as ANF responded to the concern some employees have about moving into a building off-campus. It was very important to us that we create a vibrant, welcoming space that employees were proud to work in. To achieve this, we removed a series of existing exterior roll-up doors and filled the openings with large expanses of glass storefront. The combination of these large glazed openings and strategically spaced interior transoms allows the office space to be be filled with natural light and supplies exterior views throughout.

The design also creates a visual connection to the main campus with custom wall graphics containing imagery of St. Jude, the people they serve, and their philosophy of caring for others. Interior finishes such as paint, flooring, ceilings, and LED light fixtures were selected not only to be sustainable, but also to create a visual aesthetic that is less corporate and more enjoyable to work in.
